Eurovision Song Contest Copenhagen 2014 - It is the 59th annual Eurovision Song Contest. The contest is taking place in Copenhagen, Denmark, following Emmelie de Forest's win in the 2013 contest with the song "Only Teardrops". This is the third time that Denmark has hosted the contest, the previous time being in 2001. The two semi-finals take place on 6 May and 8 May 2014, and the final on 10 May 2014. The host broadcaster, DR, chose the B&W Hallerne as the host venue after considering several bids from cities and venues across Denmark. The shows are presented by Lise Rønne, Nikolaj Koppel and Pilou Asbæk. For the first time in the history of the contest, the trio of presenters comprises two men and one woman.

Maybe someone will ask you for your favourite act, and you'll be left spluttering uselessly in a corner. Maybe you'll accidentally express political insensitivity by clapping along with the Russian entry. Maybe you just won't have built up the physical stamina necessary to endure three and a half hours of brightly coloured wailing, and your brain will literally pop inside your own skull. Austria's Conchita Wurst made it through to Saturday's Eurovision final - but the bearded drag act was made to wait, being the final name announced as going through in tonight's tense and second semi-final. In the run up to the singing contest, it was reported that a petition from the All-Russian Parent Meeting group calling on authorities to remove Eurovision from broadcast due to Conchita's presence had been signed by more than 15,000 people.
