Her father is of Norwegian descent, and her mother is Thai.Teigen's father worked as an electrician, and the family moved often. After living in Hawaii, Idaho, and Seattle, Washington, the family settled in Huntington Beach, California, when Teigen was a teenager. She was discovered by a photographer while working in a surf shop.
Teigen revealed her baby’s gender in an Instagram post celebrating her Vogue Thailand cover just short of Christmas Eve. Teigen told her fans in October that she and her husband, singer John Legend, were expecting their first child. “So proud and honored to have shot the cover of Vogue Thailand! Special to me for so many reasons…one being I am SO PROUD to be Thai, so excited to have shot a Vogue cover (a dream, of course) annnnd a couple minutes after this shot, John and I learned we were having our little baby girl!”
