New LC 500 Coupe On Detroit Auto Show - Surprising car unveiling by Toyota’s elegance brand Lexus at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit last week, the company introduced its new plush and powerful coupe --- the LC 500. The unveiling of the new LC 500 marked such a noteworthy statement by Lexus that the vehicle was presented by Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda, who made a rare appearance at the Detroit auto show.
The newly-unveiled Lexus LC 500 is scheduled to hit the markets in nearly a year. The cost of the luxurious coupe will begin at approximately $100,000. The introduction of the LC 500 coupe, which came as a surprise to the automotive media at the Detroit auto show, delivers the big message that Toyota’s luxury contender is set to arrive on the auto scene, to pose a substantial challenge to bigwig German luxury automakers.
The high-tech LC 500 a low-slung rear-wheel-drive luxury coupe which is based on Toyota’s new architecture called ‘global architecture for luxury vehicles’ (GA-L). The coupe is equipped with Lexus' 5.0 liter V8 engine capable of delivering 467 horsepower; along with one of first-ever 10-speed automatic transmissions in the auto industry. In addition, the LC 500 coupe also boasts a new version of the Lexus infotainment system; and its standard features include a high-end audio system and the most recent iterations of Toyota's active safety system.
