Season 6 "The Walking Dead" Review - When you’re feeling anger, abandon, and frustration over that The Walking Dead finale, well, good. That’s exactly how the cast and crew want you to sense. Comic book creator Robert Kirkman promised it would be a “painful summer” for fans of the series and super star Andrew Lincoln said that when he read the script he felt “angry and then I sort of felt ill. I felt nauseous. I felt frustrated and all these kind of things and I think it’s exactly what we hope the audience will feel as well.” Mission accomplished, boys!
And the reactions to this season’s cliffhanger are angry indeed. But take luxury, Walking Dead fans, you’re not alone. As you use up the next few months poring over clues as to which main character (Aaron, Carl, Rick, Michonne, Glenn, Daryl, Rosita, Maggie, Abraham, Eugene, or Sasha!) was on the receiving end of Negan’s skull-crushing blows, the actrees and actors behind The Walking Dead are with you. According to Chandler Riggs as Carl Grimes, they’re in the dark too.
Who knows if any of the actors are really in the dark. We’ve been around this same post-finale mulberry bush with the cast of Game of Thrones for the past nine months or so. In the case of the HBO cast, they were able to present a united front at Comic-Con with the excuse that they hadn’t seen the Season six scripts, there was no new George R.R. Martin book, and they were as much in the dark as anyone as to the future of Jon Snow on Game of Thrones as the rest of us.
But it’ll be a trickier row for The Walking Dead cast to hoe. Probably, as they have done every year, The Walking Dead producers will debut a trailer in San Diego this July. Given that the show will premiere a few short months later, the cast won’t be able to play ignorant up there on the Hall H stage. Good luck until then, Walking Dead cast. Maybe Kit Harington can give you some survival tips.
